Checking Keyword Relevancy using your Competitors

As every SEO professional will tell you, the biggest factor in SEO optimization comes down to picking the right keywords and key phrases. As a practical matter there are lots of ways to find keywords and it is easy to get overwhelmed by having to many keywords. An SEO pro will start by ranking keywords by their relevance to your business and products. There are many ways to do this. 1) By looking at keywords visitors use to find you, 2) keyword generation tools and 3) by looking at keywords used by your competitors. You know who the good ones are. You probably even admire them! Your competitors is a great source of new keywords. While you can't look inside their accounts to see which keywords are converting to sales, you can be assured that if you see their ads coming up consistently on a certain set of PPC keywords over a long period of time and in high positions --Bingo. These keywords are working for them. Otherwise they would be wasting their money by paying Google more money to maintain these high rankings. As an old Chinese proverb goes "Smart people learn from your own mistakes, but truly wise people learn from mistakes of others"
